Background
I was not planning to get any more VPS subscriptions in 2021, but the offer from Naranjatech was rather tempting, given the specifications and the price. Find my first impressions from running benchmarks, on their AMD epyc based VPS. They have been around in the low end market for a while, which they call as their hobby project.

Black Friday/Christmas Flash Offers
Naranja Teach had several offers on LowEndTalk, LowEndSpirit, and other places; for Black Friday Cyber Monday, 2020, so also Christmas and New Year. These KVM based VPS plans had NVMe disks and AMD Epyc Processors, starting from 9 Euros a year VPS all the way to a 4 vcpu/8 GB RAM system at 48 Euros a year. I thought of getting one of their plans several times, but resisted. The smaller plans I did not need, the bigger ones were an over spend.
Jan 2021 New Year Offer
Naranja Tech repeated their 48 Euro offer in January 2021. At 48 Euros, still a tempting buy, but again for my needs, an over spend. I was glad to keep pushing back (to my temptation). But a user on LowEndSpirit worked out a custom deal with user ‘gleert’ from Naranjatech, and the specifications were
2vcpu, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe for 22 Euros or a little over 2 US Dollars a month.
This combination was very good, and pricing, network and processor was better than what I am paying for the hosting for this website. Even for this offer, many times I had even gone ahead and put those items in shopping cart, but decided not to get them. Simply because of a problem of plenty. And I did not want one more VPS which would lie idle, and not really deliver any return for the financial and time investment I would making them.
Account Creation and Ordering
The purchase purchasing process was a little different. Since this was a custom order, I had to create an account and raise a ticket requesting this particular configuration. I received a response to that ticket and an invoice. Upon making the payment, I was able to get the VPS provisioned. So far so good. The VPS came with CentOS. The first order of business after logging in was to change the operating system, which I promptly did. Next, I ran the standard benchmark tests, which include Yet Another Benchmarking Script, and then speed test, (bench.monster). The results of the benchmark test or as below.
Benchmarks
The system look solid, with good disk speed. Latency has been one of the lowest that I have seen to Netherlands at about 130 ms, which is what I would typically get fora UK location. In contrast, I get about 150 ms for Hostslick, which is also in the same country, though, a different data centre. With that, let me talk about the virtual private servers in Netherlands location. At this time, I have one more service providers with servers in that country which is a NAT VPS from Inception Hosting.

VPS providers in Netherlands
While writing this post, I thought of doing something different, that is, I compiled a short list of providers who have VPS services in the Netherlands. This is not a definitive, authoritative or a comprehensive list, but it gives you a fair idea.
- Liteserver - IntoVPS - Hostslick - Alwayzon - Vultr - Webhorizon - Inception Hosting (NAT) - Ramnode - Hostsailor - MaxKVM - Virtono - GreencloudVPS - Nexusbytes (Economy packages) - Virmach
Serverhunter site has a wider list of providers from the Netherlands.
From the above providers, I have tried Hostslick quite a bit, and heard great reviews about Liteserver. IntoVPS I had tested in Romania, cannot speak for their Netherlands network. Update February 2022: I have services from Nexusbytes,Naranjatech, Hostslick, , and NAT from Inception Hosting.. all in the Netherlands. It has become quite a collection in the little country.
Parting Thoughts
The Naranjatech VPS looks like a good purchase so far, and I am looking forward to using it. At a future time, I might post a longer review. For now, my plan is to connect it to Server Avatar VPS management panel and host a couple of sites. Update February 2022: This VPS service was discontinued in December 2022 as a part of consolidation of web hosting services. I did however retain a smaller spec’d VPS from this provider. Before the send-off, I ran the benchmarks one more time. You can find the results below.
